Sharing Content in Spore

Every now and then the guy over at GamingSteve, which you probably have already guessed the name of, talks about Spore in his weekly podcast. Not much news from this one (55Mb), but a few interesting things worthy of mention emerged. First off the release date.

It’s supposed to come out fall 2006, however unofficially I will tell you that it will come out when it’s done. And when is that? I don’t know. Right now they’re expecting it to be fall ‘06, I don’t know if it’s actually going to hit that date.

As you might or might not know everything you create in Spore can be shared with the online community. So say for ex. you create this awesome creature and you’d like to know how it fares in the big universe against other players. You can then share that creation and others can put it in their games if they think it’s cool.

There’s going to be a seperate page (website or in-game) that will track all of your content, so you can see how your stuff is doing out there.

You will be able to see how many times it’s been downloaded, how, as previously mentioned, it’s doing against other players, how favourable it is and how many that have bookmarked you, among many other things.

And finally at E3 we’re going to find out more then we ever knew, so watch out for that!
