A Release Date?
Well, almost.
Wired has a blog up in which Wright says Spore will have a “Septemberish” release date. He also says that his games, such as SimCity and The Sims are actually toys, not games.
“Most games put the player in the role of Luke Skywalker … This is more about putting the player in the role of George Lucas.” He goes on to say that Spore is “a philisophic toy” which will be “an amplifier for the player’s imagination.”
This pretty much confirms the rumors which have been putting the game in the September/October bracket. While it’s nothing solid, at least it gives us a general time frame and with the recent videos from GDC it looks like this might actually be a realistic date.

I think the Spore Release Date will keep changing. We all know Will Wright and how he takes unlimited time
Then again, they always turn out excellent.
I doubt that it will be released in 2008
it will be released most likely in the september area. it could come out before or later(preferably before)
I dont get why it takes soo long to release. when you wait so long to release a game all your doing is hurting yourself. People eventually get tired of waiting and they move on to the next game

well, i’d have to say this is somewhat accurate, though, from what i learned on AOTS, spore might not even come out in 2007! AOTS states
“the spore release date might be pushed to january of 08″
though i pray that they are wrong….i want my spore game!!!
Just take your time, rather have a late game done right then a game now that is rushed and done wrong! Just one thing…It better be worth the wait!….i’m sure it will be.
it takes sooo long to release because if they release it with major bugs or flaws, they will recieve more hate mail and complaints for patches , then if they just finish it up. probably will need a patch anyhow all games on PC do.
Sorta irritates me that console games are releases fairly fast and complete no patches (although newer console change that) so i expect the quality of console games to go down the tubes as well.
hmm i also have to ask, why is there a poll that asks whats your favorite franchise Spore/sims/simcity… cant vote on spore it aint released yet to have a judgmental view.
Plus all 3 are the same franchise maxis/wright…
The poll doesn’t ask which game franchise - yes, we do think each series have evolved so much and gained so many followers they can be called franchises - you think is the best, but which one is your favourite.
