Spore + YouTube = Match 0

Google Blog got a short entry about the YouTube integration Spore will have. Via the YouTube developer API provided for Spore you’ll be able to upload your own creature videos from the game directly onto YouTube. Since the creature editor will be released as a free download before the actual game you’ll be uploading cool videos in a not so distant future!

Spore in Popular Mechanics 0

In an article about the next big thing in video gaming Spore is mentioned as one of the contenders for that next blockbuster title.

That’s not to say there aren’t any massive games coming soon. Chief amongst them is Spore, the much delayed but just-announced title from Sims creator Will Wright, in which players control a shepherd over a species from the amoebic to the galactic.

Popular Mechanics mentions the risk the industry could face with going back to producing sequel after sequel instead of being innovative, if Spore would fail.

Maxis on Release Date and More 0

In two interviews over at IGN Maxis’ Lucy Bradshaw, Morgan Roarty and Will Wright answered numerous questions regarding many different topics, including the release date and the ongoing fine-tuning of Spore.

IGN: We’ve seen a lot of pseudo-release dates pop up here and there, was the game ever seriously going to release before this September?

Lucy Bradshaw: This is really our first real public announcement about release dates, this is our formal, this is when we’re definitely going public with it. This is a lot. So September 7th, 2008.

Oh, and you can actually do your own national anthem. How cool is that!

Release Date Finally Found 0

We’ve returned after exploring the galaxy. Someone had to do it.

And boy are we glad to see a final release date for Spore! September 7 is the date when your social life will end and the fun begins!

Will Wright: The wait is almost over. We’re in our final stages of testing and polish with Spore, and the team at Maxis can’t wait to see the cosmos of content created by the community later this year.

Spore will be simultaneously released for PC, Macintosh, Nintendo DS, and mobile phones.

Spore Right on Track 3

According to the British edition of CVG, which in turn reports from BBC’s Radio Five who interviewed Will Wright on the subject, Spore is still scheduled for a spring 2008 release. All seems to be going well and the game is in full playable form.

“We have the game fully playable at this point and it’s in final testing”, Wright said yesterday in an interview with Radio 5 Live.

Furthermore Will explained that Spore has undergone thourough testing to ensure it’s accessible to most tastes so it doesn’t become a hardcore experience.

New Spore Video 1

A new video of Will Wright demoing Spore has popped up on youtube. It’s a 5 minute talk Will gave at Gadgetoff 2007 in New York. In it, Will creates a new creature, walks around a very interesting looking forest and encounters a HUGE creature! The game is looking even more polished and I’m dying to get my hands on it.

Release Date Rumours 0

Ebgames.com and Gamestop have recently updated their projected release dates. It seems hoping for a March release may have been overly optimistic after all. Both sites now report a 5/1/2008 release date from the previous 3/3/2008. Of course, as always, EA has confirmed nothing.

Spore Confirmed for Consoles 0

According to Eurogamer Maxis executive Patrick Buechener was quoted saying, “Not right now, but we see this as a franchise”, when asked about possible console ports at the demo sessions of Spore. Furthermore he added, “It just won’t be at launch.”

So there you have it folks!

Eurogamer also has a preview of the game up for those who just can’t get enough reading about Spore. The game is easy on the eyes, the space part looks exciting and gameplay is simple and intuitive. That pretty much sums it up!

Destructoid at GC 2007 0

Articles from the Games Convention in Lepizig continue to pour in. Destructoid’s take on it resembles the ones we’ve already seen, but there are a couple of things that can still catch your eye. Interesting hands-ons are always welcome, and this one is.

I was told that completing the four stages running up to Space would only take around nine hours if the player didn’t spend any time with the customization sections — and frankly if you don’t do that, I don’t think I want to know you any more.

The preview features the four first stages; space missing out.
